The participating organizations in this project have been carrying out a joint work process regarding the defence of the indigenous peoples’ rights for years. The aim of this project is to deepen in the implementation of the Spanish Strategy Paper for Cooperation with Indigenous Peoples (ECEPI), a guiding report in the Spanish cooperation with this peoples. The project is organized in three parts that are carried out simultaneously:
The first part of activities responds to the need and demand of the different public agents (state, regional and municipal administration) and private agents (NGOs and other social organizations), the demand of the cooperation and the demand of counting on mechanisms to include the approach of rights to their actions and politics of cooperation with indigenous peoples. With this objective, two analysis are going to be made and two investigations-systematizations on the exercise of the right to territory and good management and also the right spreading of themselves.
The second part of action is constituted by the setting of a system of permanent and updated information on the indigenous peoples and mainly addressed to the media and the public opinion by means of several mechanisms: online bulletins and public actions of incidence and solidarity for the implementation of these rights.
Finally, the last part is focused on raising the awareness of the several public and private agents. This will be carried out by a process of orientation through a report with rules to deploy the rights recognized by the ECEPI, the ILO Convention N. 169 and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and the holding of eight meetings with different agents of the cooperation with the direct participation of indigenous representatives.
